Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
It’s here, Christmas is here! Well, almost.
I can still remember how excited I was when I was a kid, waiting for Christmas to finally get here. It seemed to take forever.
Now Christmas seems to arrive before I know it’s Halloween!
Christmas is and was always my favorite holiday.
I love the decorations, the cheery Christmas lights, the smell of pine and cinnamon in the air.
Finding the perfect gift for family and friends was my goal every holiday season.
Ripping the paper off my gifts made me feel guilty. But not much!
The memories of Christmases past that make me want to relive them again and again, and so I do in my mind.
That frigid Christmas in Newport, Rhode Island, with Bate, New Year’s Even in Williamsburg, Virginia, with Shelley and her family, Christmas in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, with Susan.
And then there are all those quieter moments, the ones that make my heart smile.
Sneaking into the living room as a kid to see what Santa had left, and later in the morning pulling out all the fun, secret goodies in my stocking.
Opening gifts on Christmas morning with Bob, and how he always managed to find that perfect gift that I wanted with all my heart but never said.
So, to all of my Sunny Side of Life readers, no matter how you celebrate or where, I wish you all the joy and happiness of the season, and memories that make your heart smile for many Christmases to come.
Stories from the Sunny Side of Life is taking a break for the holidays. I’ll be back in early January with more stories from the sunny side of my life, past and present, and with exciting news about a new book (or two) in 2018 and a blog tour with several of my author friends. Stay tuned!
